The Department

​The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering is one of six departments within the College of Engineering Sciences and the College of Applied Engineering at King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals. It is also one of the oldest departments offering a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, since the creation of the University in 1963 when it was named College of Petroleum and Minerals by a Royal Decree.  The name of the institution was changed to University of Petroleum and Minerals in 1975 and later in 1986 to the current name. The department added the Master of Science (MS) degree program in Fall 1972-73 and the Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) program in Fall 1985-86.
